A guide to digital art

 Hey readers!

I've been drawing digitally for a while now, and I've been enjoying it quite more than I thought I would! I've also learned quite a few things to share with you guys. So, this is like a guide to digital art for beginners, written by a beginner :) Here are a few tips that are helpful when drawing digitally.

1. Try different platforms:  You don't need to stick to one, use whichever seems comfortable at the time. The app you choose depends on what your art style is, and what mediums you use. I mainly use sketches, and occasionally sketchbook or Adobe photoshop sketch.

2. Get used to all the tools: When you're starting out, make sure to know all the properties of the tools and the canvas. You can even watch tutorials online. This comes in handy when you need different textures or need to change properties of a paticular tool.

3. Keep a reference picture: This is especially if you have no inspiration or no idea on what you need to draw. If you don't find a reference picture you like, try taking a color palette as your inspiration. One of the main advantages of digital art is that you can keep a picture right next to your canvas, and later remove it.

4. Add layers: Different layers are really useful, especially when you need to erase something. Try using separate layers for different parts of the drawing. For example, you can use one layer for making a rough outline and another for the actual drawing.

5. Experiment!: Don't be afraid to experiment and get out of your comfort zone! You can always undo anything you don't like.

I hope you found this post useful! If you have any other tips, please make sure to leave them in the comments below! Stay tuned for more content!

  1. This post was really helpful! Also, adding an extra layer for a rough sketch with annotations of highlights and shadows can help provide a good idea of which tones and tools to choose.
