Inktober- a survival guide
Hey readers!
Inktober is only three days away! The prompt list was out quite a while ago and if you haven't checked it out yet, don't worry, you can see the image below.
This is the third year I'm going to be attempting Inktober and I've completed it once and come very close the other time. I've learned quite a few things while attempting it, so I'm gonna be sharing those with you guys in this post.
1. You don't need to stick to the list! Inktober isn't about creating something from the list, it's about expanding your creativity and being consistent with your art. I usually prefer to stick to the list, but its entirely up to you whether or not you want to.
2. Using colors: I know that in the rules of Inktober it says that you need to make a drawing with ink, and it doesn't necessarily say anything about the use of color. Many people feel that inktober drawings need to be monochromatic or only black, but that's not true and you can definitely use colors. Again, it isn't about sticking to the rules, it's about improving your art style. I also recently read in the FAQ that you can draw digitally or use tools other than ink.
3. Consistency: Inktober rules say that you don't need to draw every day, you can do it every alternate day or even weekly once. But, its important to be consistent. Unfortunately, I learned this only after almost finishing last year's inktober. And it's pretty useful to know now.
4. Size: The rules don't specify anything about the size of the drawing, so there aren't any limitations! You can create tiny doodles for each day or even huge paintings! But just make sure you're able to keep up with whatever size you choose.
5. Have fun! Don't ever consider it as a burden, but as a challenge. Don't do it because others are, do it for improving your skills. Just experiment and have fun with your art!
I hope this post helped you and your inktober goes well! I created a page on this blog where I'll be posting this year's inktober drawings every day, so be sure to check it out!
Thank you so much for reading and stay tuned for more!
the using of colors and the consistency I wasn't sure about, and I'm really glad to now know:) loved ur post once again<3
