Hey readers!
Are you interested in hand-lettering/ brush-lettering/ calligraphy, but literally don't know where to start? Don't worry! You've come to the right place! In this post, I'll be teaching you the basics of hand-lettering with brush-pens, calligraphy pens and fine liners.
1.
Brush pens
Hand-lettering with brush pens is hard at first but with practice, it soon becomes the easiest. All you need to remember is that upstrokes are always thin and downstrokes are always thick. So when you're doing an upstroke, use pointed top end of the brush pen lightly, and when doing a downstroke apply more pressure and tilt the brush pen lightly so that the side part of the brush pen makes a fat stroke on the paper.

2. Calligraphy pens
Calligraphy pens have a slanted tip which has to be held at an angle for it to glide smoothly on paper(look at the picture below). For the upstrokes, use the pointed end of the pen and for the downstrokes, use the broad end horizontally.

Fineliners (fake calligraphy)
If you don't have calligraphy pens or brush pens, and still wanna learn calligraphy, then you can easily do it with the help of fine liners. First write whatever you want in a cursive font, then make a thick line for the downstrokes and fill it in!
