10 Ways to fill an empty notebook

Hey readers!

We all have those guilty purchases where we buy unpractical things having no use in our daily lives, just because they look so pretty! And yes, notebooks are definitely one of these. Some notebooks are just too beautiful to waste on school notes or failed diary entries. I myself recently searched for these ideas, and I picked up a few good ones and a few that I made up, and I wanted to share these with you guys. So, in this post, I'll be telling you 10 ways to fill an empty notebook.

1. Lists
Sound boring? But just hear me out. I'm not talking about your every day to do's. I'm talkin' big. Like books you wanna read, movies you wanna watch, places you wanna visit, skills you wanna learn, or your long term aspirational goals. Don't stick to one subject, switch it up every page if you want to.

2. Art journal
Even if you aren't an artistic person, you can really try this. Click here to see my post on steps for art journaling: https://arteenonline.blogspot.com/2020/06/art-journaling.html

3. Quote book
The heading pretty much says it. Fill the book with your favorite quotes!

4. Doodle
They don't have to be those intricate full-page doodles. You can just make minimal ones and write a quote below if you want to.

5. Inspiration book
I recently heard an inspirational podcast called 'creative pep talk' by Andy J Pizza and in an episode, he talks about finding things that inspire you (the fruits) and really break them down and find the core emotion (the seed) that makes you feel inspired, and let that emotion or that theme drive your art. (he explains it way better than this) So, I feel that having a notebook just for finding things that inspire you is extremely helpful when you have blocks.

6. Memory book
Instead of photo albums, preserve your favorite pictures in memory books, where you can customize each page, try different layouts for the pictures and even add your comments in between. These books are more enjoyable to look at than regular photo albums.

7. Write a novel/ poetry
We all have interesting story ideas flashing in our minds every once in a while. It's fun to write these down and create a short story/novel. If you're more of a poetic person, then writing your poems down in one book will encourage you to write more.

8. Random thoughts journal
Yes! This is a valid reason to use a notebook. It doesn't need to have any theme. Just a book for any thoughts you're having. Write stuff neatly, messily, draw, just put out your feelings on the page.

9. Hand lettering practice
You can even handletter your favorite quotes on each page (see tip 3). If you're a beginner at handlettering or want to learn it, click here to see my post about the basics of handlettering- https://arteenonline.blogspot.com/2020/04/hand-lettering-guide-for-beginners.html

10. Motivation journal
This book is to be written in only when you are very motivated or inspired to do something. This is like writing to the future you. Just write about what you're feeling and what caused it. Write as if you are talking  to a friend who feels demotivated. So that when you feel demotivated or bummed out in the future, you can read this book and hopefully get some motivation.

I hope these tips helped you get some ideas to fill your notebooks. If you have any other tips for filling notebooks, be sure to mention them in the comments! Stay tuned for more content!
